Generosity shines once again

A key aim of the French Chamber’s annual Gala Dinner is to support the French Chamber Foundation and its valuable work in helping low-income workers in Hong Kong.

The generosity of the French Chamber’s members and their guests was once again on display at the 2017 Gala Dinner. Throughout the evening, live and silent auctions were held, along with a generosity wave, to raise funds for the French Chamber Foundation. These initiatives are today the principal source of funds for the Foundation.

This year’s Gala Dinner successfully raised a total of HK$1.5 million; with 60 weeks of Lunch Club meals funded during the generosity wave. A special thankyou to Cecilia Cheung, Honorary President of the Foundation, for her exceptional HK$2 million donation on the evening, which brought the total funds raised to HK$3.5 million. These funds will go towards the operation of the Foundation’s four Lunch Club locations across Hong Kong. We would like to thank our sponsors, guests and of course the ever-charismatic Francois Curiel, without all of whom this simply couldn’t be possible.

During the evening, the President and Honorary President of the French Chamber Foundation, Armen Ekmekdje and Cecilia Cheung took to the stage to explain the charity’s Lunch Club program. This program is about more than just affordable and nutritious meals, it also involves a variety of coaching, job-matching and self-help programs to attendees free of charge. As such, the Foundation aims to help low-income workers develop the right skills to improve their job prospects and, ultimately, their livelihoods.
